West Virginia Business College in Wheeling has hired Tammy Walton as an instructor.  Ms. Walton graduated from West Liberty State College in 1994 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration specializing in
Computer Information Systems.  In 1990 she graduated from Wheeling Park High School with High Honors.  In addition, Ms. Walton has attended
various leadership training courses and competed at the national level in
speech and leadership competitions.  Her experience includes employment
as a computer programmer, an administrative assistant, and an accounting
clerk in area businesses. She also has experience in desktop publishing. Ms. Walton is a life-long resident of the area.

 West Virginia Business College in Wheeling has hired Ms. Mary Gordon as a Medical Instructor.  She is a graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High
School, and hold s BS in Nursing from Wheeling Jesuit College.  Ms. Gordon began her career as a nurses assistant and worked as an LPN for 19 years in various nursing homes in the Wheeling area and at Wheeling Medical Park.  After graduation from Wheeling Jesuit College she worked as a home care nurse for Interim Health Care until she accepted a position as Executive Director of VNA Home Support Services.  She held the position for 12 years and while there she developed and trained nurses assistants for eligiblity to become nationally certified in home care. Ms. Gordon also has experience doing skilled nursing for special needs children, and working for a short time in the pediatrics department of a hospital.

On Saturday, October 17,2009 West Virginia Business College will hold
testing for its $18,200 Scholarship to be awarded to a high school senior
who plans to attend West Virginia Business College in the Fall of 2009.The
test is open to all high school seniors.  Interested high school seniors

Mayor McKenzie and WVBC team up to Beautify downtown Wheeling Campus. WVBC Student Council is doing their part to enhance the image of the city for all of the downtown businesses and visitor's. This beautification project is the result of the Student Council's hard work, and the generosity of many, who supported their fundraisers and events.

WVBC is the oldest continually held privately owned and accredited college in the state of West Virginia.  Director Karen Shaw stated that WVBC offers fast track associate's degrees for a fast and bright future. WVBC is a Business College offering Associate's degrees in Computers, Medical Assistant, Paralegal and Business. Nine-month Diplomas are also available.

WVBC has a long history in the state of West Virginia as the oldest continuously privately held college in the state.

Mayor McKenzie Visits WVBC for Town Hall Meeting
 
 Mayor Andy McKenzie visited WVBC on Dec. 4, 2008 as part of a series of town hall meetings designed to discover what jobs and opportunities students desire in their community. Mayor McKenzie was joined by representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and the Regional Economic Development Partnership as well as the City's Event Planner.
 
 Students and community members were given the opportunity to ask questions of the City officials. Some of the concerns voiced were lack of convenient parking and economic growth. The Mayor and other officials seemed receptive to all opinions and proactive in improving the quality of life in Wheeling.

West Virginia Business College in Wheeling has hired Heidi Porter and Je-Lan M. Speenburgh as Instructors.
     
Heidi Porter received her Radiology Certification from Wheeling Hospital School of Radiology Technology.  She earned a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies from Ohio University where she graduated with Highest Honors as the top Communications student.  From there, she graduated with High Honors from Muskingham College where she earned a Masters of Arts in Education.  Ms Porter has over ten years of hospital experience.  She serves on several boards including Family Children First Council, Youth Commission, and Concerned about Teen Sexuality.  Ms. Porter is a published author with numerous works published in national magazines such as Communications Quarterly.  Currently, she has a handbook in press for parents dealing with discomfort in talking to their teens about sex, STDs, and adolescence.
 
Je- Lan Speenburgh graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree from State University College at Cortland.  She majored in Sport Management with a minor in Computer Applications.  Through State University College she also completed her Business and Marketing Teaching Certification.  Ms. Speenburgh taught Microsoft Office Specialist at Niagra Falls High School as well as computer classes at Ben Franklin Middle  School.

Jim Weir is the Financial Aid Manager at the Wheeling campus.  Ceciley Binegar is an Evening Class Paralegal Instructor at the Nutter Fort Campus.

WEST VIRGINIA BUSINESS COLLEGE HOLDS 127th COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY
 
 
West Virginia Business College in Wheeling, WV, held its annual graduation ceremony at the McClure Hotel in Wheeling.  Wheeling Mayor Andy McKenzie was Commencement Speaker, and Jody Disantis was WVBC Graduate Speaker..  Music during the ceremony was provided by Dr. Sarah Mahan-Hays, soloist, and by Mike Schumacher, guitarist.
      
Graduates who earned  Associates Degrees in Office Administration/Paralegal include Shannon Carr, Brittany Cerny, Darlene Dulaney, Jessica Elliott, Kara Meador and DeAnnja Tweedy .  Jennifer Blattler, and Janette Necessary earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration/ Computer Applications Accounting.    Graduates who earned Associates Degrees in Office Administration/Medical Assistant with emphasis on Surgical Technology include Jackie Turkoly.   Claudette Motto earned an Associates Degree in Office Administration/ Medical Assistant with emphasis on Geriatric. Graduates who earned Diplomas in Secretarial Science/Medical Secretary include Amber Blake, Tracy Chieffalo, Nicole Fuscardo, and Brianne Janiszewski.  Joyce Foster, Heather Fulton, and Stephanie Young earned a Diploma is Secretarial Science/ Legal Secretary.  
  
Special WVBC Student Ambassador Awards were presented to Claudette Motto for Degree Program, and to Nicole Fuscardo for Diploma Program.      
  
Employee of the Year Award was presented to instructor Tom Grady.  Mr. Grady holds a Regents Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Liberty State College, and has taught Business, Accounting, and Computer classes at WVBC  for the past eight years.

West Virginia Business College, Nutter Fort Campus has hired Alex Mclean as computer instructor and head of the Computer Department. Mr. Mclean graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2009 with a degree in computer information science.  He is a resident of Barbour County.
